Frequently Asked Questions
What is house call grooming?
House call grooming means I come to you and groom your dog inside your home. I don't require much space! I bring portable equipment and can set up my grooming table in just about any area in your home that is non-smoking and well lit (kitchen, foyer, main bathroom, laundry room, etc.). Bathing can be done in your tub or laundry sink. I cover everything from set up to clean up. I bring towels, shampoo and everything else needed to make your dog look and feel their best, and clean the area when done! House call grooming is a specialized service and is best suited for small dogs (<20 lbs) that are on a regular grooming schedule (every 4 to 8 weeks).
What areas do you service?
All of Orleans (including to Frank Kenny Rd. in Cumberland), Blackburn Hamlet, Beacon Hill, and Rothwell Heights. Parking is required.
How long will it take?
A full groom usually takes between 1 1/2 to 2 hours, with the set up and clean up. The first appointment will sometimes take longer, as I am getting to know your pet. As soon as the groom is complete, I will clean up, pack up, and be on my way.
What do you require for a house call visit?
A guaranteed parking spot close by (driveway is ideal), somewhere to bathe your pet (bath tub or laundry sink), an electrical outlet within 10 feet, and a well lit area in a quiet, low traffic area.
Due to health concerns, I am unable to work in areas with indoor smoking.
What are the benefits of house call grooming?
Pets are more comfortable in their home environment
No need for transportation or extra time for travel
Minimize risk of contagious illnesses
If your dog is older, has a medical condition, is immunocompromised, gets anxious easily, or you're nervous wondering what happens when you're not there- then house call grooming might be for you!
Can I be present while my dog is being groomed?
You certainly may! As long as your dog is not distracted by you, there is no problem with this. I would just ask that you not leave the room and then return, feed them treats, or talk to them during the groom, as this will certainly excite them and create an unsafe environment for working on them. Likewise, if you have children at home during the groom, please keep them away from the work area. Overall I am most concerned with the safety of your pet and am happy to work with you to find the routine that is best for them.
Do I have to be home?
I ask that you be home for your first appointment, but after that feel free to leave a key or garage code, as you would with a dog walker or house cleaner. This way you never have to miss an appointment with work or last minute plans.
What methods of payment do you accept?
Credit cards, e-transfer, or cash. Payment is due upon service rendered.
I bring the spaw to you!
